UNDERGROUND
LO TEK SOUND SYSTEM // rotterdam
Cyb-x 010
Chemical youth brain experiments
A Rotterdam based non-profit underground tekno party organisation.
Founded in the early 90’s by young people as an answer to the commercial
Party establishment.
Free parties for free people.in abandoned warehouses, factories,
tunnels, underground stations,bunkers
and out in the open field.
Regular participants in teknivals all over europe where other likeminded
organisations (like Spiral Tribe,Mononom, Makita, and lots of others)
would come together to set up sound systems in the open field to
party together. All bringing their own sound systems and following
these teknivals could easily gather many tens of thousands of people
leaving the police unable to stop the party.
Mostly these illegal parties had to be organised
in total secracy through the use of huge personal mailing
lists, secret internet sites and last minute
voicemail messages containing subtle information of a meeting point
in the proximity of the party.
People would gather at these meeting points like a nearby trainstation
an hour before the party started and then be guided to the excact
location..
Often this resulted in hundreds or even thousands of people marching
for miles through areas where normally no people would be seen.
Well-known dutch and international Dj’s played
these parties for free or just trainfare and food and drinks were
sold at wholesale prices
Cyb-x010 parties were known for their relaxed friendly and overall
extremely peaceful
and loving atmosphere often compared with the hippie movement in
the 60’s
XTC, LSD Mariuana and other party related drugs were a very important
ingredient for the succes of these
parties. Drugs were freely and openly sold and used at these parties
Often you would find independent people selling foods and drinks
you would not find
In the commercial scene. People would bake pancakes, eggs, homemade
soups, veggie burgers fruit-shakes and other kinds of health foods
to compensate the use of drugs and prevent people from de-hydration
and exhaustion.
